Jadore it or Ignore it?
Fanny Packs.
This convo with my dear friend Ian got me thinking about writing a post for fanny packs. He is obviously anti.. very anti.. but I’m starting to think they can make a comeback if remixed the right way. Might be a quick trend, or a lasting one.. but designers are definitely working their magic to see if they can make the fanny pack supa dupes cool again.
Now let me be clear..and I’m legit sorry for using these unknown people for a straight up DONT example, God bless their souls.. but I’m not talking this kind of Fanny Pack:
I’m talking these 2012 versions:

And if you want a real life example of someone rockin’ it… check out my friend Chloe (lead FLUXX/RMD dancer.. designer.. model.. ruler of the universe whatevs) workin’ it with her fanny pack. You can’t tell me she doesn’t make it look fly.
So tell me bunnies.. jadore or ignore the Fanny Pack? Predictions on the comeback? Holler at cha girl. xx
Whaaaaat no way. That is MY f*ckin FEATURE ^^right there^^ ladies and gents. Holy moly hairy balls I can not belieeeeeve it. I have dreamed of seeing Styled By/Written By: Katey Yurko for as long as my blonde little mind can remember- so I thank you for letting a bitch brag a little. THANK YOU GOD! Thank you for this :) Prayers answered.
Holding up my article like it’s a graduation diploma. Hi Mom! Hi Dad!
This one is for us Yurkstyle readers! You know why? Because you stand by my all over the place, ADD fueled, swearing, abbreviating, overly exited ass time after time. At my side, you also give the middle finger to the Fashion SNOBS and a loving smack on the ass to those who just like to have FUN with fashion; because “Fashion” is not a status, it’s a lifestyle/hobby/whatevs you wanna call it… but it don’t make you cool yall. I would know- I live and breathe it and I’m a fat freakin NERD.
All in all.. THANK YOU FOR READING! Make sure you check out Fashion 5.0 magazine (Free all over SD) and let me know what you think about my article! Also- because obvi I can never end a post properly- check out the Alexis Bellino article! This was the shoot I assisted on. The pics are stunning!
BTW: If you’re in Northern California, the hairstylist of the Bikini shoot, Michelle Palos, just started taking clients again so holler!

Jadore or Ignore?
Kristen Stewart for Elle Magazine, June 2012.
Not going to lie, I havn’t read the conent of the article yet- even though it’s my favorite part. I did flip through the spread a few times, looking over the designers, admiring the photos, etc.. They were trying to go for some mysterious, sultry shoot where Kristen Stewart had dual roles of a dark vixenish woman and a swanky over the top man. Probs chose to do this theme to support the masculine-feminine look that is “so in” right now. Or… I don’t know the story behind it. I just know that.. I, I like it, I do. It’s gloomy and beautiful. It screams sex and mystery. I die for the clothes. (Except her black cutout dress she’s wearing solo on the bed, you’ll see..) But ok, what bugs is the demeanor of the man Kristen Stewart is playing. Kind creeps me out, I don’t know why! Her as a man, whatever- that’s cool shock value, but something ABOUT the man she’s playing bugs me. Does this make sense or am I starting to sound like hippy stoner child again?
Ether way.. Look at the pics below and tell me what you think. Did ELLE pick a cool theme? Did Kristen do a good job? And do you think they picked the perfect clothes for the shoot? Let a sista know. Nerd OUT!
^This is my favorite photo of the shoot.

^This dress. I don’t die for it at ALL.. but more so, Thumbs down for the use of it… Should be worn as a sexy dress for an older woman- not a young 20’s hot rocker chick.

.. There’s a few more in the issue if you want to check those out as well :)
If you read my blog, then you know that I do styling and writing for San Diego’s fashion magazine, FASHION 5.0. If you havn’t read it, chiggity check that shit out because it’s simple to navigate, it’s personal and relevent to us bunnies, it’s different, it includes divine and saucay fashion reads, and people, oh.. oh it is goin goin goooin places. I’ve even posted some outfits that were inspired by previous Fashion FiveO features and spreads. Not to mention the Fashion obsession I’ve always had with their fashion editor, Dean Hall. He’s prob the biggest stylist here in San Diego and… well pretty much, if it wern’t annoying as f*ck, I’d brag to anyone that would listen about getting to work with him.
Ok SO. FiveO has some new digs yall. Some new DIGGGGGGS! Eeeee! And I am border line obsessed with this new place. It’s right in the heart of the gaslamp. It’s vintage. It’s mod. It’s homey. It’s chic. This place is exactly where I see designers, models, writers, photographers, galloping about in fashion harmony. I’m not kidding you, when I first walked into this place my heart stopped and skipped a beat at the same time.
Entry to Style Heaven.. I die for the red.
The designer work room, where coveted peices are made with love.

Conference room. Diggin the laid back family table vs. the corporate rolly chair vibe.

The soon to be most adorbs waiting room your ass has ever seen.
So do you love it or do you love it?! Thanks for letting me share my passions with you all- I try to keep it exclusive for ya. So when I get feedback it means the world to me and if I could tell each one of you that, I would. Sharing my experiences with youmake it that much more special.
That being said.. this being posted.. my fingers being tired.. you all have an idea of what the new Fashion 5.0 offices are like. So if you dig fashion- stop by sometime!

What The Funk?
This is not dressing for success. Do not take this magazine’s advice. This is dressing for being the f*cking target of the day for laughs.
It looks like she decided to look through her fat Dad’s closet and picked out his flashy chalk stripe pant suit to swim in all day at work.
Copy Dis Fit
Yo holmes! How are my peoples doing? Fab I hope.
Sunshine days are BACK AGAIN and I’m stoooked. Less layers. More skin. More minimalistic but not at its’ entirety. Forget being “bikini ready” for not- if you know how to work your clothes and you express that supa wonda woman confidence, you’ll work it, twerk it, like it aint no thang.
Summer brings along Summery duds. Obvi. (I don’t know why I’m using the word “duds”.. so corny) Anyway.. One such dud: the crop top.
Whether you own one or ten of these tees, or none at all… I knowwwww you have at least seen one in a store that you thought was mighty cute, but skipped out on.
Ladies will often pass on crop tops because they don’t feel comfortable showing that much stomach. Most of these gals have tried the longer tank under the crop top look but oh honey, let’s just face it- that looks retarded. Unless for some divine reason you were the .01% that got it right. (I’ve tried, I’ve failed.) So what to do if you want to buy that crop top but don’t know how to wear it without showing tummay?
Wear them with high waisted skirts! Ones that lay above your belly button and hug your curves. The crop top will fall over the skirt and will show ether no skin, or just the top part of your stomach (usually the most lean on a women’s stomach anyway.) And it’s looks tres chic. Look at the pic below- this was a super high crop top and only this much skin showed when my shoulders raised.
Now you can do this with pencil skirts, or flowey skirts like I paired mine with.
It’s a simple combo: Highwaisted skirt + crop top. I like to mix patterns and solids or two bright colors- one on top and one on bottom (aka color-blocking.)
Try it out! I wore mine with a pink and black leopard skirt that buttoned high and had diagonal cuts at the bottom. I then paired it with a black crop top, flip flops and a long necklace. Supes easy.

Another cute thing to add on chillier nights with this fit: A cropped jacket, jean or lightweight.
Hope this gives you the courage, if it was hiding beneath you before, to strut this type of shirt this Summer! You got this. xx
Florals, stripes and tights. A fantaaastic combo.
Start with tights, find a complimentary skirt that is ether a two toned stripe pattern or a floral pattern. Then, don’t think about the tights for a second. Look at your skirt.. you’re going to want to tuck in a collared button up blouse into it next. If the skirt is striped, add a floral blouse. If the skirt is floral (or some statement pattern), then add a striped blouse.
Follow with booties and accessories.
If no tights- wear pretty wedges or glammed up sandles.

Derp dee derrrrrrr.
Sending my love! xx
The Styling Bunny
Now I’m not going to write much.. or post too many pictures.. because then you won’t read the magazine.. BUT.. I got to head and style my first shoot for Fashion 5.0 magazine! Ahhhhhhhhh! So cool. So freakin cool. I was a proud bunny… of.. myself. Hehe ;)
The shoot and content will be about 2012 swimwear trends and which ones are right for specific body types. Yeah yeah we’ve all seen that before but I’d like to think that mine has a more blunt and honest funky swing to it. The models offered variety as well as the swimwear we shot with. Fortune 421 and Gone Bananas Swimwear in Mission Beach has some swanky fresh suits y’all.
Here are some more behind the scenes photos:
Picking out suits at the Fortune 421 home office. Loving life.
SO MANY CHOICES! So many cutie suits. Booty suits. Lovely suits! I really like this line.
This was my faaaavorite suit. I had to make sure this baby looked perf! It’s subtly sexy at first glance.. then add some attitude.. VA VOOM VOOM VOOOMMM! Leopard RAR!
Hairstylist @MichellePalos doin her thaaang on set. This suga moma is talented- and if you’re in San Francisco or Sacramento and need yo’ mop did.. contact her!
Luli Fama mono-kini swimsuit. Fierce and Funky.. fab combo ;)
I’ll let you know when the issue comes out! Hope you all like!! I love sharing this stuff with you. xx
Broken Bunny.
Ugh. I’m fashionably depressed.
I’m sittin here at the table.. eating cereal out of a coffee mug (it’s better that way) flipping through HB’s May issue when this dangerously posh Gucci clutch pops out at me on the contents section. Page 44. No words about it- just fulfilling the role of glamming up the page. Oooooh and I want it.
It’s stud adorned. It’s pretty girl rock. And F*CK YOU GUCCI it’s also $1750.
*sigh* *turn page* *flip back to page*.. Faaaaack.
What are your fashion woes of the moment bunnies?
Ignore it Or Adore it? The Classy Swag Man.
The EC twins performed for an EDM Thursday at FLUXXSD the other week. They are a rowdy fun pair of brothas!
Afterwards I talked with these sweet hooligans about.. haha totes not their music, talked to them about what they were WEARING! Duh.
What caught my eye was their metallic hightop. They were dope. After we got to talking about my blog and their shoes they were like “Oh yeah I pushed this trend from the very start! Been wearin’ these for YEARS!”… Uh-huh. I’m suuuure you were the first buddy.. I’m going to humor you regardless. LOL. People always trying to claim things. Hilarious. But in all seriousness, the metallic sneaks are sick. I think it’s a fun nicer pair of sneakers to wear as an alternative to your typical Chucks.
But that’s my thoughts, which clearly I love giving. Some other FLUXX guys hanging around after didn’t agree with me on the cool factor of their feet candy. Others did.
So what’s YO opinion on the metallic? What’s your opinion on high top sneakers in general? To me, if paired with a pulled together (not saggy) outfit… mmm baby! Sexalicious x10!
PS: At the closing pic below.. don’t you die over the pose he gave for showing off his shoes? Loves it.
I’ve been trying to find out where these “pop up shops” or special showings relating to fashion are going on ever since I went to one on a Tuesday night a few weeks ago held at downtown San Diego’s Syrah Wine Parlor.

It was called “The Sugar Room” and it was put on by Jedi-Sugar. It was sooo cool, they had all these vintage vendors displaying their trift finds, organic makes, jewelry, art and more. I ended up getting a blue and white striped collared shirt from “Hunt & Gather” (in North Park) and a jade cross stretch bracelet from local San Diego company Sweet 1985.
If they ever hold one again, or you hear of a different one.. two things. 1) Let a sista know the deets of when and where and 2) GO yourself! Hidden treasures!!
The “Sugar Room” in practicular reminded me that:
1) North Park has sooo many more thrift and retail stores I still need to visit.
2) Shopping while drinking, or already tipsy.. or straight drunk if you’re gettin’ wild.. is so freakin fun. And you feel FABULOUS in eh-ver-E-thing.
3) Not ALL thrift stores are cheap. Unfortunately.
Here are some pictures!

Oh and that stud in the white? That’s my man. It was date night and little did he know I had shopping plans afterwards. ;) We both had a great time though and he even ended up buying me this gold bib necklace from Haven Boutique’s set-up that he saw me eye googling over. Swoon.. The way to my heart is an article of clothing!
Ignore it or Adore it?
Kate Moss on the cover for the June 2012 spring issue for UK Vogue.
Dayum. This hot hooker is STILL getting high fashion magazine covers. She’s almost 40. I can’t hate. But I can get a little bored.
She’s blonde and exotic (Not something most blondes are called.) She dresses like a bitch on a mission around the clock. She’s got high fashion and she’s soaked in sex and confidence.
But she’s also a cancer stick smoking bone bearing hot mess of a fox isn’t she? The disheveled look.. Sex. The “heroin chic” look.. Trash. Cigs & Starving, glorifying the emaciated.. ICK factor you guys. Ick factor. If you’re naturally skinny- good for you even though that’s really annoying.
In the end I love her style, love her God given look (mousey, chic), hate her man made look (sunken, dark), love that she’s gorg at any age and hate that all her modeling feels and looks the exact same.
What chu think bunnies? Still love her? Over that Beezy? Never loved her from the start? Don’t give a rats azz? Spill your thoughts ❤🐰
I forgot to post about my time styling Courtney Randall! Have you heard of this girl yet? She is up and coming and she is so adorbs I can’t stand it. She’s very talented. Her cover of Bieber’s “Boyfriend” blew the roof off of Youtube. Her voice is very energetic and folky at the same time. Her look is very girl-next-doorsy and natural- so I played off that and gave her a little funk too- because she has a funky side that doesn’t get shown often. We did the shoot at these trails in Los Angeles, scoped out by our photographer, Evan Lane. Supes amazing guy by the way. Click his name and check his stuff. He’s soooo good!
Behind the scenes action:
Fur and Stripes. Love.
Bright red vintage top over an african print flowy skirt, with her signature combat boots of course. Added some wooden turqouse earrings for some pop and a golden braided necklace that laid perfectly over the blouse and pulled from the gold in the skirt.
Yoni and Kai. AKA the men who signed Courtney Randall. Their company is “Bowties and Sneakers” and the projects they do are OFF THE CHAIN. I freakin love them. Big names doin big thangs… but still the same people along the way. :)

Let me check you out girrrrl make sure you be lookin’ good.
Such a beauty, with talent to match.
…Check out her video for J.Beeb’s cover “Boyfriend.” You’ll love her.
The Classy Swagger Man.
Prints on Prints, topped with velvet. Yum. Men are looking cuter and cuter these days as they are experimenting more with their wardrobe and combining different patterns and colors.
Mark my words- a well dressed man WILL get noticed. As my friend Mariana says, “If I see a guy walking down the street, and he’s dressed cute.. doesn’t matter if he is attractive or not.. I WILL look at him.” So take note on the following. PS: Mariana is hot.
All you guys go out to the club, on dates, out to dinner.. in the same kind of stuff. Jeans and a button down. Slacks and a button down. Sometimes you have your belts flashing and they are usually ugly. Sometimes you wear a safely colored tie. You all show up wearing the same shit. All the time. And it doesn’t make you stand out! An outfit that you “took a chance on,” put more thought into, or spent extra time getting ready on conveys confidence and women love to see that! Plus, women notice when you switch something up and are not wearing the usual wear. Trust dis beezy. I know.
So instead of the go-to jeans/slacks and button up- Let me give you an outfit idea to switch things around. First.. see above. This is Jason Mitchell, VIP manager at FLUXXSD and dressed fresh to death on any given night. All girls agree, he dresses swanky- so learn from someone who is already doing it right. ;)
For a date night, a night out to the club or a social dinner, try this combo: NICE chucks or boat shoes, nice jeans (darker is always better, if they are lighter make sure there is a fade to dark toward the bottom.. and don’t have them too long or baggy! Not tight but snug enough to show some shape. Show off dem cheeks boy.) Then you can add your beloved collared shirt, along with a contrasting tie or bow tie, and a statement sport coat.
Men should be rocking the sport coats by now. They. Are. Sexy. It says, “I’m laidback enough to not wear a suit, but suave enough to know I should be wearing a nice jacket.” There aint’ nothin wrong with wanting to look nice fellas. So get yourself two sport coats. The first, a coat that can be your “go-to.” Aka it can be thrown over almost anything and make you look pulled together. Think black, greys, or a navy blue. Do NOT think khaki or tan. You’re not some old fart at the country club. Then get yourself a statement sport coat- the one you break out now and then to put extra swank into your fit. This might be courduroy, velvet.. maybe one with special prints on them or stripes, even polka dots if you wanna push a more fashion forward look.
- Let me you some green lights on mixing prints:
- Mix smaller prints and eye catching prints.
- Stay within similar color families. Blues, Greens, Yellows together. Reds, Oranges, Yellows together. Etc.
- Look at the fabric. Is your jacket light weight? Wear a more structured shirt underneath, maybe a nice denim button down (if you’re not wearing blue jeans already.) If your jacket is heavy (like tweed or leather) try 100% cotton, etc. Also, if the material of your jacket is stubby, mix the other peice with a flat surface weave, and vice versa.
- Polka Dots and Stripes mix well. Stripes mix well with stripes as long as the stripes are both vertical or both are horizontal; and each have no more than 3 colors of stripes in them. Polka Dots mix with Polka Dots so long as one peice has bigger polka dots than the other and the colors are ether complimentary or in the same color family.

Work it twerk it you sexy men!
